Inspired by the two best BASEBALL SIM LEAGUES |
Sim Schedule
-Typically Sims will be held Mondays and Thursdays at 11:30pm PST. There will be about 8 weeks of sims per season. For Playoffs there will be a different schedule, likely, every other day a round will be simmed. This allows teams to change strategies based on the matchups. Once we get this league rolling, I will be looking to implement the ability for owners to coach key games in the playoffs (change lineups, strategies, ect during the game).
Rosters and Strategies
-Teams can submit lineups and strategies as they wish. If no lineup is turned in by the teams or if a lineup is invalid, the game engine logic will always (to the best of its abilities) set default lineups.
Lineups:
-Starting Lineups start and end each half.
-Late 1st/3rd lineups sub in late in the first and third quarters
-Early second and forth lineups sub in at the beginning of the 2nd and 4th quarters
-Primary Backups sub in, in case of fatigue and foul trouble
Plays:
-Pick N Rolls highlight the two players running it, offensively
-Iso's highlight a player where he prefers on the court
-Post Up's highlight a player on post ups
-Frequency (0-100) can increase the likelihood of the play call
-For Normal Offense, shot distribution is based solely off of Team Shot Primacy
Strategy:
-Push Fast Break vs Defensive Rebounding - these two values (0 to 100) tell your team how much emphases they should place on pushing for Fast Breaks or staying back to secure Defensive rebounds. (Ex, 90 fast break and a 10 D rebound would tell your team to run out on fast breaks, but the other team would gain more O rebounds thru the course of the game)
-Get Back on D vs Offensive Rebounding - these two values (0 to 100) tell your team how much emphases they should place on getting back on D (stop fast breaks) or trying to secure offensive rebounds. (Ex a 90 on O rebounds and a 10 on get back on D would tell your team to hang around to try to secure Offensive Rebounds at the expense of giving up more fast breaks.)
-Defensive Aggressiveness - (0 to 100) the more aggressiveness the better the D but the more your team fouls.
-Tempo - (0 to 100) the faster the tempo, the more open the game is, the slower the tempo, the more methodical your team needs to be. ... ... (The intelligence of your team (O-IQ and D-IQ) in a slow tempo type of game will matter more than in a faster pace game... I call this the Derek Fisher Effect.. btw, the playoffs are slower pace.)
-Likeliness to use a blowout lineup - (0 to 100) the higher the number the more likely you will use your bench guys in a blowout.

Salary Cap
Salary Cap - The heart of this financial system is a NBA like Salary Cap. There is a Soft Cap and a Hard Cap, each have specific restrictions. The best explanation of the Salary Cap System is below, where you can see the full amount of restrictions/benefits/ect
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INSEASON
Regular Season
We use real NBA schedules, so each team has the typical 82 games, 41 at home, 2 vs teams in the opposing conference, 3 or 4 vs teams in the same conference. Per sim, each team will get anywhere from 3 to 7 games... average of just over 5 games. 2 sims a week (Monday and Thursday). All Sim Schedules will be posted on the main page.
Playoffs
Normal NBA rules: Top 8 seeds, from each conference, join the playoffs. Seeds play as follows 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, ect. Each round will be simmed every other day. All Sim Schedules will be posted on the main page.
Inseason Free Agency
---Once the season begins and free agency is opened, teams can sign free agents. It is claim based, first team to claim a player, gets that player. All free agent signings need to be posted on the sign free agents forum. Here are the FA restrictions.
Tier 1 Free Agents - From the start of the season to the second sim, any player signed as a free agent that has a C- rating or better, is considered a "Tier 1 Free Agent" and has the following restrictions:
---#1 the FA will receive a 1 year 2 million dollar contract.
---#2 this means that any team that does not have 2 million under the soft cap cannot sign a Tier 1 FA
---#3 a team can only sign one Tier 1 FA in a 24 hour period
---#4 this player is eligible to be resigned at the end of the season
Tier 2 Free Agents - All other Free Agents, d+ or worse up to sim 2 or any free agent after sim 2, are considered "Tier 2 Free Agents"
---#1 they will receive a 1 yr 500k contract
---#2 all teams, regardless of salary cap situation, can sign Tier 2 Free Agents
---#3 there are no restrictions on the number of Tier 2 FAs a team can sign in a 24 hour period
---#4 this player is eligible to be resigned at the end of the season
--------------------------------------------
Cutting Players
Cut Players - It's simple, post your cuts on the cuts forum, this will release a player to Free Agency. Cut restrictions goes as follows:
---#1 the cut player's salary will count against your cap like he is on your team still... even for multiple years... so if you release someone with a 4 year 20 million dollar contract, you will have that full 20 million on your salary for the entire 4 years
---#2 any player cut can be signed immediately, but will be a tier 1 free agent until after the next sim
--------------------------------------------
Trades
Teams can make trades under these restrictions
--- Trades are to be posted on the Trades Forum
--- Teams will have this and next year's draft picks to trade.
--- Teams can use the "Trade Machine" to make sure a specific trade is valid.
--- Any trade that is not valid (via trade machine) will be rejected.
--- Protests to trades are allowed (by other owners) and may lead to a review.
Here are the terms of valid trades: (the trade machine helps check salaries for you)
--- #1 any team over the Hard Cap cannot acquire more salary in that trade
--- #2 any team over the Soft Cap and under the Hard Cap cannot acquire more than 15% more salary in that trade
--- #3 any team under the Soft Cap prior to the trade and over the Soft Cap after a trade can acquire either up to 15% more salary or 10 million more salary (whichever is more) in that trade
--- #4 any team under the Soft Cap after the trade has no restrictions
-----------------------------------------------
Resigning Players
---Every Player, at the end of their contract, is resignable, as long as your team has enough under the Hard Cap. A resign sheet will be uploaded with every player's contract demand at the start of the playoffs.
---Player Resigning takes place at the start of the playoffs and will end once the playoffs end.
-----------------------------------------------
NBASL Draft
The NBASL Draft will be a live draft that will take place from the start of the playoffs to the start of the new season. There will be a draft thread in the forum that will be the official place where you can make your picks.
The official draft file will be uploaded prior to the draft!
The Prospect page is a page showing all of the possible players that could declare for the NBASL Draft. At the beginning of the season, the all-star break and right before the start of the playoffs, random players will decide if they are going to declare for the draft! The players that do not declare for the draft will continue to be on the Prospect page until they eventually declare for the draft (some season).
A draft lotto will be held to determine each team's draft position. The 14 team lotto's odds will go as follows:
-worst team, 28 balls
-2nd worst team, 27 balls
-3rd worst team, 26 balls
ect....
-14th worst team, 14 balls
This is meant to deter tanking.
-----------------------------------------------
OFFSEASON
Offseason Free Agency:
Offseason FA will go as follows:
-Each team will submit offers for Free Agents (I'll make an APP). Once the offer sheets are submitted, the top offers, by dollar amount, are calculated for each Free Agent. A Free Agent will decide, randomly, whether to accept the current offer or hold out.
-All Free Agents that remain after the first round of bidding will be able to have offers submitted in the second round. Typically there will be about 5 rounds of Free Agents.
-There are money rules that prevent players being locked up in long contracts that have small dollar amounts.
-Typically Sims will be held Mondays and Thursdays at 11:30pm PST. There will be about 8 weeks of sims per season.
